Manasquan VFW Post 1838 was Chartered in June, 1930. The land that our Post is on was donated by Mr. McGreevey. The building was built by volunteers with lumber that was donated from the barracks at Sea Girt Camp. Originally, we had five building lots. As times got tough, two were sold and we now have three building lots. This past June, we celebrated our 79th year. We have WWII, Korean War, Viet Nam and Iraq War Veterans. We are a diversified group. We provide a meeting place for various non profit groups in our community, e.g. Manasquan PBA, “Just Us Girls” a cancer support group, and a rapidly expanding Marine Corps League and now the newly formed VFW Post 1838 Men’s Auxiliary. In The past few years we have upgraded our facilities by installing a new roof, replacing the porch, installing a new water main, installing a new sewer line with a back water valve, new windows, glass side door, new double front doors, removed the chimney, remodeled the ladies room, added a computer with a high speed internet access for members use and installed insulation and remodeled the meeting room. Our most recent up date is the addition of our new, lighted sign out front and installed a new porch light. We also installed a new 42 inch flat screen TV to replace the older one that committed suicide. We also have a DVD player hooked up to it. We recently replaced all of our bar stools and installed a porch light. All that being said, we still are in dire need of additional storage space.
